Philadelphia 76ers guard Cameron Payne was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona, early Friday morning and booked on two charges: one for refusing to provide a truthful name and a second for providing a false report to law enforcement.

"According to the Scottsdale Police Department, authorities were called out to investigate a disturbance in Scottsdale at around 2:44 AM -- and came into contact with Payne and another individual.

"It's unclear exactly what happened next -- cops did not give any further specific details -- although the SPD says Payne was arrested on the scene and booked on one charge of refusal to provide a truthful name and one count of false report to law enforcement.

"We're told the 29-year-old NBA player was released from custody a short time later."

Per ABC 15 Arizona, details regarding why police responded to the scene for the disturbance have not yet been made public. No further information has been provided about Payne's arrest as well.

Payne, 29, has played in the NBA since 2015 for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks and 76ers.

He's perhaps best known for his time with the Suns, serving as a backup guard for the 2020-21 Western Conference champions.

The impending free agent, who was born and raised in Memphis, averaged 9.3 points an 3.1 assists per game for Philadelphia after Milwaukee dealt him in a midseason trade.
